Responsibilities:

• Build, deploy and manage big data solutions that can adequately handle the needs of a rapidly growing data-driven company
• Spearhead the development of systems, architectures, and platforms to scale Volume, Velocity, and Variety
• Help lead the development of a data lake
• Streamline data access and security to enable data scientists and analysts to easily access data
• Build out scalable and reliable ETL pipelines and processes to ingest data from a large number and variety of data sources
• Maintain and optimize the performance of our data analytics infrastructure to ensure accurate, reliable and timely delivery of key insights for decision making
• Lead the movement cleaning and normalizing subsets of data of interest as preparatory step before deeper analysis
• Research, evaluate, and recommend new technology

REQUIREMENTS

Must Haves

• An engineering degree with a specialization in Computer Science or related
• Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures
• More than 5 years of hands-on experience, preferably in big data infrastructure
• More than 3 years managing a team of data engineers
  • Solid understanding of database performance and scaling
  • Deep understanding on best engineering and big data practices – include handling and logging errors, monitoring the system, building human-fault-tolerant pipelines, understanding how to scale up, addressing continuous integration, knowledge of database administration, maintaining data cleaning and ensuring a deterministic pipeline
  • Possess excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities with proven design skills, able to think critically of the current system in terms of growth and stability
  • Well versed in setting up continuous integration and deployment for big data or other projects
  • Business-English fluency
  • A “get-it-done” mindset

Nice to have:

• Reporting tools like PowerBI, Holistics
• Proficiency in common big data toolsets like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Presto in a large-scale environment
• Real passion for data, new data technologies, and discovering new and interesting solutions to the company’s data needs
• Highly proficient with Linux Systems Administration
