We are looking for an insightful, detail-oriented fundamental analyst to work with our internal departments and brokers to provide market reports, news analysis, and useful material about commodity market for company and customers. A commodity fundamental analyst specializes in the raw materials part of the stock market. These can range from oil and metals to grains and softs. As a fundamental analyst, it is your job to analyze the market to predict what it will do in the future regarding how these types of items are traded. You may be asked to focus on just one item or several at a time. Typical duties include analyzing financial information, monitoring the market and commodities industries, and drafting accurate reports for investors. This career requires at least a bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or a related field. Additional qualifications include excellent analytical skills, a thorough knowledge of economics, and the ability to use complex computer software. It is also helpful to have experience writing concise reports and to know the jargon of Wall Street.

Fundamental Analyst Responsibilities:

• Generate investment ideas based on fundamental research and data analysis
• Build detailed fundamental commodity supply and demand models
• Develop and expand analytics tools and processes while staying on top of market research and insights
• Model commodity data for specific markets and produce ad hoc analysis based on short-term market developments
• Evaluate and improve data quality
• Creating reports and presentations to summarize findings and influence company decisions.
• Implementing policies and procedures that keep company data and information secure as it is collected, analyzed, stored, and discarded.
• Reviewing and improving analytics processes, methods, and tools to increase efficiency, accuracy, and security.

Fundamental Analyst Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in statistics, mathematics, computer science, finance or economics
• High GPA (>3.5). CFA is favorable. 
• Strong understanding of financial modeling, using analytic tools
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with strong attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced team environment
